A comprehensive
home of love.
The Petra Elderly Centre is a comprehensive elderly care institution — a space for senior citizens to stay physically active and engaged, and a platform to harness elders' knowledge, experiences and wisdom.
Why Petra exists
In Tanzania, few options exist for elders who deserve care with dignity — not institutional, not lonely, but warm and rooted in family. Petra was built to close that gap.
The reality of ageing
As parents age, families stretch — across cities, across continents. Care becomes fragmented. Petra reassembles it into a single, coherent home.
A different vision
Ikigae. Uzee ni tunu. Every wrinkle a chapter. Every day a purpose. Every family in the loop. Every service on one campus.
The Petra approach
Nine dedicated services on our Kerege campus, plus a family app, safe-home devices, and caretaker visits reaching every member's home.

A lifelong educator and nurturer whose memory inspired Petra.
- Before 2007A lifetime of nurture
Bi Petronilla — a lifelong educator — raises her family and generations of students in Tanzania. Her children Stergomena and Agapinus Lawrence Tax watch dignity in action every day.
- 2007Recognising the need
As Petronilla ages, her children see how few options exist for elders in Tanzania who deserve care with dignity — not institutional, not lonely, but warm and rooted in community.
- 2016In loving memory
Bi Petronilla passes away. Her memory becomes the seed of a promise: to build the place she deserved, and that every senior in Tanzania deserves.
